The Gate
Our goal is to build the gateway to the Hangzhou Science and Technology Corridor. The complex is located in the western part of the city, where the master plan aims to create a business hub and transform this former suburban industrial area into a new scientific district. Our project is positioned right at the entrance to this zone when approaching from the urban center.
We asked ourselves: How can we design a building that serves as a focal point for this emerging urban corridor—one that is welcoming and embodies the essence of this evolving, cutting-edge, and fascinating space?
The answer is a portal—a gateway that manifests at an urban scale and brings life to the heart of the complex. We envision a place where work, leisure, and relaxation seamlessly merge into a single environment. To achieve this, we will bridge the urban scale with the human scale through a meticulously sculpted façade, featuring sun-shading louvers and carefully designed recesses and projections. These elements will harmoniously embrace office workers, shaping distinct atmospheres throughout the project.
